half a year?!

How is it possible my baby was born half a year ago? This has been a big month for our girl. It seems like suddenly she has transformed into a wiggly, loud, mobile, giggly baby when just a few weeks ago she was still tiny. She is so much fun!! I just want to soak in every minute.

eating: as soon as she turned six months, we started two solid meals a day. usually lunch and dinner..we tried breakfast and she was just not interested. she is loving her solid meals lately! we have a little bit of a "regularity" problem so she eats a LOT of greens. for lunch she usually eats a fruit or oatmeal with fruit. for dinner it's veggies. so far she has eaten sweet potatoes, pears, butternut squash, baby oatmeal, and peas. she's still exclusively on breast milk and usually has four bottles a day, the schedule varies a little but usually around 7, 11, 3, & 7. I started doing two bottles during the day and nursing morning and night - this has helped getting full feedings, she gets SO distracted when she's eating so nursing makes it hard to know how much she gets. She's also usually nursing once (on a good night) during the night. She is still waking up a lot...

sleep: what do I even say? seems to be getting better...every night I put her down between 7:30 and 8 and on a good night, she sleeps twelve hours with one feeding. that is not even close to every night. A lot of nights she still wakes up between 11 and 12 and it's really hard to get her back to sleep without nursing her. I think this mostly has to do with us going to bed around that time and she is just a super light sleeper. seems we have at least gotten away from the every 2-3 hours thing but still not doing great. poor baby girl just really needs her own room. we will all sleep MUCH better when that happens. she's on a pretty good nap schedule, shorter morning nap and a longer afternoon nap. She has dropped her third nap but many days we get out between 5:30 and 6:30 and lots of nights she'll nap in her stroller.

play: her big milestone this month was sitting unassisted! this started about a week before she turned six months! she still crashes without warning occasionally so I have to keep a hand close by but she's already getting better after just a couple weeks. she grabs at EVERYTHING, especially prefers anything she's not supposed to get haha. loves getting my hair and nose anytime she can. she is also really close to crawling! she can get her knees up underneath her and rocks back and forth...especially in her crib when she's supposed to be napping :) loves sophie, her jellycat mouse, this little skip hop puppy and her rattle, really just anything she can put in her mouth!

she has started really responding to michael and I. It is the sweetest thing ever when he comes home- she gets so excited and starts flailing her whole body. Also giggles a lot, especially when daddy tickles her! It's a constant game to see what we can do to make her laugh, sometimes I think how funny it would be to be a fly on the wall and watch us trying to get giggles. :)
