baltimore kinetic sculpture race

This is a little strange, but worth documenting (I think). Each year Baltimore hosts the East Coast Kinetic Sculpture Race Championship. Around this time last year, I took Lucy outside early on a Saturday morning and the race was happening on the street right outside our apartment building. I ended up staying and watching the whole thing! The participants in the race are human powered sculptures that have to be able to travel by land and water (and my guess is they are also judged based on creativity..?). It's pretty strange but kinda funny and fun to watch. We started our anniversary weekend celebration with this!



this is Fifi, apparently a baltimore icon (who knew?). she spends the rest of the year in the Baltimore visitors center.
